Collections
To discuss and organise a collection, please call our dedicated ‘furniture donation line’ on 01444 470205
A high proportion of the Hospice shops’ income is derived from the sale of larger items, such as good quality second hand furniture and white goods which require collection. The Hospice shops are able to offer a collection service for these and other large donated items.
When you call the furniture donation line, we will ask you some questions about the items that you wish to donate and provided they appear to be suitable for us to sell we will book a day and time for your collection. Our vehicle will arrive on that day with two drivers who will load the goods onto a Hospice van or lorry.
We do ask donors to accept that, on occasions, the drivers may refuse an item if they feel that the condition is not quite up to the mark. We never absolutely agree over the telephone or over the counter in one of the shops, to take any item of furniture until it has been checked by one of our operatives.
Disposal of furniture
The charity also undertakes part (or sometimes whole) house clearances. In these cases a member of the Retail Team will organise a visit to the premises to assess the volume and agree what is to be collected.
