Donating in memory of a loved one or a friend is a wonderful way to remember someone special and to create lasting memories.
Losing a loved one is always difficult. Hopefully, it will have been of comfort to know that they received the best possible care from the dedicated staff at St Peter & St James Hospice. And by making a gift in memory of your loved one you are helping to ensure that support is there for other families in the local area. Our hospice and the care we provide only continues thanks to the amazing generosity of people like you.
Sunflower Tributes
A tribute page set up in memory of your loved one is a positive way to celebrate their life and share memories with your family and friends whilst helping other families in need of our specialist care and support. Simple to use and easy to set up, your Sunflower Tribute allows family and friends to share memories, thoughts and photographs online and even light a virtual candle in memory.

You can choose to include a funeral notice on your Tribute site, should you wish, informing everyone of the practical arrangements for the day of the funeral. You can opt to send invitations to people and include a printable map and travel directions. Those living at a distance and unable to attend can make a donation with a message via your tribute site.
A tribute fund allows any money raised, including from sponsored events, setting up a regular gift or organising your own celebration event to be added to the same fund. Anyone can contribute and you can see how much has been raised in your loved one’s name.

Donations in lieu of flowers
Many people decide that they would like donations to the hospice at a funeral, in lieu of flowers. This doesn’t mean that there won’t be flowers at a funeral, rather that the family has decided to limit the number of floral tributes by inviting others, if they wish, to donate to the hospice instead. This is a wonderful way to support us and we are deeply grateful for your support.
We have pew donation envelopes that can be ordered and can be placed in the church or crematorium. Every donor who provides their name and address will be thanked by us. There is also a Gift Aid declaration on each envelope; this enables the hospice to receive an extra 25% from the Government on each gift, without any extra cost to us or the donor.
Please make cheques payable to ‘St Peter & St James Hospice’.

Remembering a loved one at your celebrations
We’re offering people special sunflower favours to remember a loved one at celebrations. Whether it be a wedding, anniversary or birthday, we can provide favours with a personalised message to celebrate the memory of a loved one.
Special occasions can be a sensitive time when a loved one is no longer around. We will provide special favours for any occasion in return for a suggested donation (£1.50 each). Many people prefer to do this instead of receiving presents, as it provides much-needed funds for the hospice which offers all its services free of charge to its local community. The favours can be made in any colour to match the event’s colour-scheme and will contain a personalised message and 10 sunflower seeds. In this way, all the guests can take away a memento from the event and plant the seeds in memory of a loved one.
