and support future hospice care in Mid Sussex
A gift in your will to the hospice could help provide care to the many people who need specialist palliative care in our community every year.
Gifts in Wills from our supporters are a vital source of income for the hospice and help cover the care costs of one in four of the hundreds of people we support every year.
People often think hospice care is funded by the NHS,but the majority of our funding comes from voluntary donations from people like you, and a significant proportion of that income, comes from gifts which our supporters leave to the hospice in their Wills.
If you’d like to make a gift to a service which gives people the specialist care they need at the end of their life, please think about making a gift in your will to the hospice. The gifts we receive range in size from a few hundred pounds to thousands of pounds and they all play an important part in helping us to sustain our service and are greatly appreciated.
We will be posting some new information here about making a gift in your will in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have an enquiry about leaving a gift to the hospice in your will, please get in touch with Kate Gibson, whose contact details can be found below.
Will Writing Scheme
We host a Will Writing Scheme every year in partnership with local solicitors. In the Scheme, local solicitors provide free, expert advice to help you make or update your Will, giving you peace of mind by putting your affairs in order and the knowledge that the people and causes you care about will be looked after in the future.
Martin Armstrong, a Hospice Trustee, who participated in the Scheme last year said, “Last year, I realised that with the arrival of a further grandchild, my Will needed updating. As a Trustee, I thought I should test the system, so made an appointment with one of the participating solicitors. The process could not have been easier and with expert advice, a new Will was drafted, agreed and signed in very short order. This free service was given in return for a gift-aided donation to the hospice.”
Our Scheme took place in February this year so, if you missed out, please watch this space for details of a second opportunity to make a will later this year. For details of this year’s Scheme, please see
The Will Writing Scheme regularly generates donations equivalent to the cost of running the hospice for a whole day, so it’s an important source of income for the hospice as well as an opportunity for you to do something important for you and your loved ones.
We’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who took part in the Scheme this year and to thank all the participating solicitors who offered their time and expertise free of charge to help the hospice.
