In-patient unit

The Hospice in-patient unit is part of St Peter & St James, which is located on the border of Wivelsfield Green and North Chailey in East Sussex.

We have 8 hospice rooms all of which are single rooms and patients may be admitted for the following reasons:

  • Short stay symptom management
  • End of life care
  • Occasionally for a period of respite care.

During their stay, patients will benefit from 24-hour care and the full range of services available at St Peter & St James. Set in 28 acres of Sussex countryside, all of our Hospice bedrooms benefit from spectacular views across the South Downs. We encourage our patients and their loved ones to make the most of our grounds, which include landscaped gardens, a wheelchair friendly woodland walk and a summer house. All rooms have a radio and television and all have electric profiling beds to assist comfort.

Family and friends are very welcome to visit patients and our aim is to make any stay in the Hospice as comfortable as possible for both the patient and their loved ones. Visitors are welcome from 11.30am. We are unable to provide separate overnight accommodation but in special circumstances arrangements can be made. Please speak to a member of the nursing staff who will be able to help. For further information about visiting St Peter & St James please click here.
