Mark's Story

Mark White's Mum Maureen was a patient at St Peter & St James. Here Mark talks about how St Peter & St James cared for his Mum and her loved ones during her illness.

"If only I could out into words quite how valued and appreciative my family and I were of the care that Mum received; indeed, I have no doubt that Mum herself would have echoed such sentiments. The help and support was shown on two levels - for Mum and for us.

Margaret's Story

Margaret Byatt's husband Derrick was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1986 and was later looked after by St Peter & St James.

"My husband Derrick was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease when he retired in 1986. For many years his symptoms were controlled by medication and he was able to lead a normal life but during the last five years he gradually became totally dependant on me.

Katie's Story

Katie has Motor Neurone Disease and is one of our Continuing Care patients. Here she talks about how St Peter & St James has helped her through her illness.

"It began with my speech sounding less clear and sometimes chewing and swallowing felt different. As autumn turned to winter I got cold far quicker than normal and then my hands wouldn't work properly and walking felt odd. I was more tired and I burst into tears over things that previously I had taken in my stride.
